Day 7 Saturday 30th June Noosa

We all enjoyed a sleep in after 3 full day’s non-stop!!  Called into the Great Sandy National Park information centre at Noosa Northshore to gather information and permits for Fraser Island.  We decided to stay an extra night in Noosa and head to Fraser Island direct on Monday instead of packing up and staying  overnight in Hervey Bay   before heading over since it is only a further 150kms or so up the coast.    It was off to Hastings Street Noosa then to enjoy a coffee and ice cream, and restock our supplies. Jason unpacked our camping gear out of our roof rack bags to find what we had feared, everything was saturated…..Tomorrow we will  spend the day drying everything out!!

Day 6 Friday 29th June "Wet N Wild" / Gold Goast - Noosa

Packed up van and after much “discussion”   with the staff at Treasure Island it was agreed we could leave our van in storage for the day while we went to Movie World and Wet and Wild World(WWW) !!  First sunny day since arriving in QLD, hence Movie World was very busy, after queuing for an hour for one ride we all decided to go to WWW despite the weather still being a little cool. Again because of the cooler weather we benefitted as there was no queues . The girls had an absolute blast, and we left at 4.00pm to pick up the van and head to Noosa. Unfortunately we got caught up a traffic jam just outside Brisbane due to an accident near the Gateway bridge and our travel time to Noosa took us 3 hours instead of the planned 1 ½ hours!!  Arrived in Noosa at 8pm and again the girls too tired for dinner luckily we had made a phone booking at Noosa CP  http://www.noosacaravanpark.com.au/

Day 5 Thursday 28th June "Sea World"

Up early and off to Sea World for the day. It drizzled rain constantly for the whole day which in the end turned in our favour as there was no wait time for rides etc. Girls again were too tired for dinner at the end of a full day! The new ride “Jet Ski Rescue” was a real winner, this was very exciting and considering the age of the girls they all managed well. (Photos below). Other winner items for the day were the dolphins and the seal show.

Day 4 Wednesday 27th June "Movie World"

Today was a little slower to start off with as we were starting to get sick of the car after 3 days continually in it. Since arriving in the "Sunshine State" we have not seen any sun in this time, it has constantly rained. We were concerned about the weather and how a day at the theme parks would work.

After some procrastinating we did decide to go to Movie world which in the end was a complete success even with the constant rain. The girls had a great day on most rides from the basic to Olivia and Ava going on the Batman Ride 5 times each. By the end of the day we believed we could of spent another half day at the park and still been interested in the activities. Ava did not have dinner as she was so tired and Olivia was not far behind.

The adults after riding on the Superman Ride and agreed that we should start to act our age, however then we decided we needed more, so we are off to Sea world tomorrow and if time allows back to Movie world, even though they have forecast rain all day again. Batman did it for Leanne, while I will be watching Wonder Woman again after 20 years of not being interested in it.

Day 2 Monday 25th June Parkes - Moree

Monday

June 25th

Up reasonably early, Jason, Lucy and Ava decided to make use of the oval next door so ran 6 laps around the over just in case they had left over energy! Arrived at CSIRO radio telescope at 8.30am, after a nice coffee and look around we set up the car for our “School session” Girls have named our class 1/5 D !!!! Lunch at Coonabarabran, where we got talking to another traveller who said she was heading to a caravan park in Moree where they had artesian hot springs to relax in. We thought this sounded like a good idea, so instead of our Goondiwindi stopover we stopped in Moree!! Gwydir Carapark and thermal Pools http://gwydircarapark.com.au/

Day 1 Sunday 24th June 2012 Mt Martha - Parkes

Sunday

June 24th, 2012

We departed at 6.30am via Benton’s square for a quick stock up of batteries for the kid’s headphones. What a nice surprise we had when we found David there, so after a farewell snapshot with him we were on our way!!  An unscheduled detour over the Westgate was our first wrong turn!!! Lunch at Wagga Wagga, where Olivia asked “are we going around Australia today?!!!”, then arrived in Parkes NSW at 5pm. Lovely park, “Spicer Caravan Parkhttp://www.caravanparkphotos.com.au/parkes_spicer/index.htm didn’t even unhitch the van. Luckily the park was next to an oval so the girls were able to get rid of some energy whilst we set up!! We thought it fitting to watch “The Dish” altogether after dinner even though the two adults were the only ones that lasted till the end! The caravan park was extremely clean with great little touches like music in the toilets.
