Up at the crack of dawn to pack up before the
heat. Left at 7.45am to tackle the road out again. Jason lowered the tyre
pressure on the car and we decided this made the drive a lot easier for him and
the car, the return trip took only 2 ½ hours as the grader we had passed on the way in had improved alot of the road. We called in on the unusual
historical indigenous site which had artwork and skeletons on view. We arrived
at Drysdale Station and after collecting our van and getting a few supplies we
continued on until we came to the Gibb
River Crossing. While chatting to our fellow Mitchell Falls neighbours who were
set up for the night we noticed Josie and Chris who were madly waving to us
from their campspot on the banks of the river!!!!! Amazing how you can be out
in the wilderness and cross paths with the same people!! After a ½ hour break
and catch up with them we pushed on quite carefully as the sun was starting to
set. We did have plans to get as far as Manning Gorge at the back of Mt Barnett Roadhouse, but
soon discovered this was not possible due to the condition of the road. We got
as far as Hann River Bushcamp which we
reached after dark. Another long tiring day for all, and day 4 without a
shower, not a good combination…!
