Day 80 Tuesday 11th September Hann River – Manning Gorge

On the road by 7.30am and found the road improved a little. We arrived at Mt Barnett Roadhouse to be told the camp at nearby Manning Gorge had been evacuated 3 days prior due to a scrub fire threatening the camping grounds. We were told they may be reopening it after an update on the status of the fire after lunch, so we decided to leave our van at the Roadhouse and drive 14kms down the road to Galvans Gorge. This was a nice short hike into a lovely swimming hole where we spent a couple of hours. We then drove back to the Roadhouse for an update, after waiting an hour for information, they reopened it and we were the first to drive in and snag the best campsite near the river  in the shade!! We set up our camp and had a laugh when Josie and Chris and their friends Mark and Milo and kids pulled in!! We had a great night around the campfire all enjoying the  company.
