Day 81 Wednesday 12th September Manning Gorge – Bell Gorge (Silent Grove)

This morning we hiked into the gorge which was a 3km return walk. The hike was a little more challenging as there were some steep climbs, but quite interesting to see just how close the fire came to the campground and over the surrounding hills. We all enjoyed a swim in the beautiful gorge and after the kids had a taste of rockjumping we adults decided we should give it a go too! This was an easier task for some than others!!! Leanne was not keen as some of the jumps were approx 7-10 metres! When the other 2 or 3 mums did the jumps, the pressure was on her to follow suit… the girls had an absolute ball, with 10 kids in our group  challenging and encouraging each other! After this we said our goodbyes to Josie and Chris and Mark and Milo and families as they were staying another night and we decided to move on to Bell Gorge. We returned to our campsite and left for Bell Gorge via Imintji. It was here Jason was approached by a fellow traveller who asked how the Expanda was coping with the dust??  He answered the queries and thought nothing of it. Once we arrived at our Silent Grove Campsite and started setting up, we were approached again by the same person who it turned out was part of an entourage doing a feature article on the GRR about caravans from Caravan and Motorhome Magazine!! We had a long interesting chat with the crew  who talked us into having our photo taken and took some footage of us doing the self registration, for camp fees. We lit our fire and set about cooking our chops on the hot plate supplied over the fire, lovely!!  Our neighbours  from Mitchell Falls  turned up again, so we caught up with them around the campfire again.

At the camp just before the hike to Manning Gorge
The first part of the hike was to take all our gear accross the river, most of which was over waist deep, and one section over Jason's head.
